Chris BrittianChris Brittain -Athletic Director      

Welcome, My name is Chris Brittain and I am currently the Athletic Director at Lenoir City High School. I have been in this role since the spring of 2020. I grew up in Lenoir City and graduated from Lenoir City High School, where I participated in Baseball and Football.  After graduation, I attended the University of Tennessee and pursued a degree in education. I am in my 13th year as an educator for the Lenoir City School System. I have worked as a middle and high school teacher in the subjects of Social Studies, Physical Education, and Wellness. I have coached football for 9 years at Lenoir City High School and helped Lenoir City make 6 playoff appearances.  I am married to Lynzie Brittain and have 3 boys named Wyatt, Weston, and Lynnox.  My main goal as Athletic Director is to provide tools and resources for our coaches and players to compete at a high level.

Jeff Cortez -Athletic Director 

Welcome, My name is Jeff Cortez and I am currently the Athletic Director and Head Football coach at Lenoir City High School. I was named Athletic Director in the spring of 2020.  I have been an educator and coach for a total of 24 years.  I have experience coaching football, baseball, track, soccer, and tennis.  I have coached football 24 years, with 17 years as a head coach.  Among my many years of coaching, I have coached 10 division 1 athletes and helped many student-athletes pursue their dream of playing at the collegiate level.  I’m a 3 time coach of the year and have won 2 CIFSS football championships in the state of California.  I am married to Shenna Cortez and have 6 kids.  My oldest four have graduated from Lenoir City High School.  I am excited to grow the athletic program and build a competitive atmosphere at Lenoir City High School. 

DEPARTMENT OF ATHLETICS MISSION STATEMENT


It is the role of the Lenoir City High School Athletic Department to provide student-athletes with the opportunity to develop their athletic abilities to their full potential. We understand high school athletics is to provide a source of pride for our school, community and alumni.  However our primary objective is to grow and develop young people to be the best versions of themselves, equipped for the challenges of life beyond high school.

Athletics offers the opportunity for our student-athletes to grow and develop basic life skills that will assist them through out the course of their life.

Participation provides an opportunity to build the young people we aspire them to be. It is thru the relationships we build with our
players that will create the change we hope to see in them.

GOALS OF THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT

1. To run a program that is in compliance with TSSAA rules and regulations.
o Increase staff education.

2.  To support the education of student-athletes. 

3.  To continue strengthening the relationship between the high school and the local community.
o Target the community youth.
o Target corporate community. 

4. To encourage alumni interest and support.
o Communicate with the alumni. 

5. To enhance community within the Lenoir City High School student body.
o Create athletics as “the” place to be.
o Enhance student participation in co-curricular activities.
o Develop a working relationship with the middle and elementary schools.

6. To enhance participation within the Lenoir City High School Faculty and Staff Community.
o Involve the faculty and staff.
o Inform the faculty and staff. 

7. To have competitive teams.
o Set measurable standards for each program.
o Develop long range plans to provide opportunity for success.
o Ensure adequate coaching support for each program.
